kickinbackinOC ::: Favorites 2007-11-26 22:31:51 In cars of that era, the low voltage for the coil sometimes went through the "maintained" contacts of the ignition key switch, not to mention the starter solenoid coil voltage. (This went through the "momentary" contacts) If that got wet, the 12 volts would probably still flow temporarily, since 12 volts isn't enough EMF pressure to conduct appreciably through the water. (18 vdc yields about 650 micro amps, 12 vdc even less) I'd say its "for real". __________________________________________________
vettefreak89 ::: Favorites 2007-11-26 22:31:57 how did Capitan Slow WIN????? wow such a pansy lol __________________________________________________
kickinbackinOC ::: Favorites 2007-11-26 22:38:26 Note that the high voltage from the coil to the plugs is under the hood. If that got wet, you would have no spark, since the 30K vdc spark voltage is enough EMF pressure to conduct through the water, short circuiting the high voltage to the plugs to ground. But all that high voltage stuff is under the hood, and only 12 vdc ignition stuff is inside the cabin. Does anyone out there in YouTube land have any idea what I am talking about? __________________________________________________
