Description:

Clips from Les Blank's classic 1980 short, "Werner Herzog Eats His Shoe." The film documents Herzog fulfilling a bet he made with Errol Morris: if Morris would finish his brilliant first feature "Gates of Heaven," Herzog said he would eat his shoe. He uses this public stunt to say some very serious things about American pop culture, filmmakers becoming "clowns" to promote their work, and the culture of images (or lack thereof). Clips like these can be found at the new Media Funhouse blog, which offers clips, reviews, a guide to YouTube and other sites, as well as everything in pop culture "from high art to low trash, and back again..." www.mediafunhouse.blogspot.com

Werner is so correct about talk shows. He said this back in 1980, and it's prophetic.

I didn't want to post the whole short, as that would completely be trampling on LB's rights. I wanted people to be able to see Herzog's really wonderful monologues in the pic. I urge you, as someone noted above, to get the whole movie from LB's site.
