Description:

Black Stuff is a two-man theatrical show that was written & developed by myself and LeVan D. Hawkins. It came out of conversations we had about our lives and...well, black stuff. We described it as "a satirical romp through the sometimes murky labyrinth of black identity" It was made up of personal anecdotal-type skits, mixed with board satiric characters to make it's comedic points. This is from the tape of one of the shows that ran at the Kitchen Theatre in Ithaca, NY. I am only putting up 4 of my monologues, not the two-man stuff or the bits from the other artist (that's up to him). It was just a stationary camera sitting in one end of the theater, nothing fancy, so it's never going to be like the live audience experience but I hope it's not too static for your viewing here. Thanks for watching. If you want to read more about it you can go to www.blackstuff.net NOTE this one contains some EXPLETIVES (so those you complained on one of my other videos about their childern watching...SUPERVISE YOUR KIDS) ps- please be advised that unlike my other vids Black Stuff comes under copyrights laws.

I've worked at the Kitchen twice. Once with my solo show and the 2nd time with this on here Black Stuff - This will be the first time that I am there with a show that is not my creation(actor/writer) in other words it's the first time they hired me a just and actor to do a role in a regular play so that's exciting to me. (there both good)How are do you live from there?

Just to complete my mental visual, where on Lark Street were you standing? My last job there was as a cook at the Lark Tavern. That city has such wasted potential. It's sad, I don't think that place has changed all that much since you left. Love the video, nice delivery.

Wow, dude, I can't beleive it. I'm almost certain that this was like right in front of the Lark Tavern. If I remember. Certainly on that same street.

I imagined as you told the story as if you were coming down from Washington Park and he was coming up from from the corner of Lark and Madison. I have a few stories from that place myself, if I can just figure out how to deliver them with even a shred of positive or comedic light, I certainly will try.

Man, it's been so long but yeah, that's really close. Washingtion absolutely and you hit Madison before you hit Central Ave...right...I'm positive it just about where you are talking about. Where did you live?
